Throughout each day, it’s easy to get distracted and let stress take over. There are different ways to reduce stress, decompress and feel good overall. Even just 10-15 minutes in the morning, during lunch break or at the end of the day, to find time for a quick yoga or meditation practice is key. I find that once I get on my mat, I feel a sense of calm and peace. Coming back to my practice again and again is what really helps me deal with the day to day stresses of life. As women age and approach menopause, the fluctuations of hormones can cause anxiety, stress and depression. By keeping a regular practice each day, it helps me center myself and also helps with getting a better night’s sleep.

Morning Meditation

I start my day with a journal of gratitude. By starting out with a grateful mindset, it sets the tone for my day. Being grateful for everything in my life, not only puts me in a better mood, but also directs my attention to what is important in life. I listen to peaceful music and start to be mindful of my breath. This can be done anywhere that you can find a quiet area of your house. A spare bedroom, basement, or even your own bed can be your own little “safe haven” of peace.
