Yoga makes me happy, joyful and all around connected to everything around me. When I get on my mat, it feels like a deep connection to my inner self. I come back to my breath, my heart beat and my mind begins to clear. As thoughts float through, I acknowledge the thought and come back to focusing on my breath. The movement keeps me engaged in holding a pose, and flowing with that full connection to my breath.

When I attempt a pose that is challenging, I learn more about my inner self and strength. Each time I face a difficult pose, I find myself delving deeper into my physical and mental boundaries, discovering resilience I never realized I possessed. Having patience when learning a new pose or a more in-depth one is key to accomplishing it, as it allows me to embrace the journey rather than solely focusing on the end goal. The greatest feeling comes from finally accomplishing a difficult pose that took a while; the satisfaction is not just in the achievement, but in the progress made along the way. It is the coming back to the mat, with patience and humility, that really shows me what yoga is all about. This practice serves as a constant reminder that every attempt, regardless of success or failure, contributes to my growth and understanding of myself. Each session is an opportunity to reconnect with my breath, to cultivate acceptance, and to appreciate the process of becoming more than just a collection of poses. This is also true to how I try to face each of life’s daily challenges. Yoga helps me connect to myself on the mat as well as off.
